I am, sometimes, a writer. I have been writing for a few decades. From time to time I come across something in my reading which I vaguely recognize. A quick check reveals that I wrote it. I am puzzled as much by the subject at times as by the fact that the writing seems really good.

I do not recognize my own voice in what I once wrote, yet the voice is strong powerful and has very eloquently expressed an idea or some subject with which, usually, I am still in agreement. But I just cannot believe that it was I that wrote/write so well.

Thankyou Isabel for this, this article also breaks the intellectual barrier and reaches the heart. A story which resonated with me for some years is very much inline to what you are saying.

An old sculptor, an ardent follower of Mahatma Gandhi is usually commissioned to make all of Gandhi's statues in Gujarat his home state. He makes this beautiful life like statues of Mahatma Gandhi, statues that almost can speak to you. He was asked that after making hundreds of such statues, how does he know that the statue is done and ready. His simple answer captures it all 'the moment I start seeing my input in the statue, I know it is time to stop'. Humbly acknowledging his role as a medium of creation.
